Carver's Orchard in Cosby, Tennessee

One of our favorite places in the Smokies is right here in Cosby, TN, just a little ways down the road from us in Carver’s Orchards. A local landmark of major repute, Carver’s has been THE apple expert of East Tennessee for more than 60 years. They’ve been providing quality fruits for the area and beyond since before John F. Kennedy took office!

Carver’s is both a working and touring orchard with a house restaurant onsite. You can learn all about the process of growing and harvesting apples and then enjoy breaking, lunch or dinner serving peaches, grapes, honey, cider, hot fried pies and, of course, apples.

Independence Day 2013

This cabin was made for enjoying holidays like the 4th of July!

Not far from us in Gatlinburg, they will be celebrating Independence Day as city tradition holds - starting with the Midnight Parade 5 minutes after 11:55PM on July 3rd, officially beginning the country's first Independence Day celebration with an incredible parade lasting over an hour in downtown Gatlinburg.

After that, the morning after at 10:00AM is the River Raft Regatta at Christ in the Smokies in downtown Gatlinburg where you can race any unmanned, floatable objects toward the goal at Ripley's Aquarium which is a huge hit with kids. Then finally, when it gets to be about 10:00 PM, the big fireworks show explodes over the main downtown sidewalk.

It's 22 hours of solid 4th of July fun in the Smokies, and when it's all over with, you can come back to solitude and luxury waiting for no one but YOU. Take the summer fun, then relax those aching feet away in our brand new hot tub!

The Dinosaurs Have Taken Over Gatlinburg

It is not an exaggeration to say that Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies is as important to Gatlinburg as Dollywood is to Pigeon Forge, and as such, they are always bringing in new attractions to keep the facility fresh and intriguing to both children and adults.

The new exhibit at the Aquarium is "Ripley's Dinosaurs - When Giants Ruled!". Huge, life-size and fully animatronic figures will capture you and your kids attention in a very memorable way! A full hands-on experience awaits all families, giving them the ability to:

* Uncover dinosaur bones
* Join in a scavenger hunt
* Use technology and games to further bridge education and entertainment
* Dress up in dinosaur and aquatic animal costumes
* Even have their pictures taken with a T-rex

The past is never dead in the Great Smoky Mountains no matter HOW LONG ago it was! Make your plans to visit Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies next time you come to town! http://www.ripleyaquariums.com/gatlinburg/explore-the-aquarium/dinosaurs/

Bloomin' BBQ and Bluegrass 2013

Friday and Saturday this weekend is the Bloomin' BBQ and Bluegrass festival in downtown Sevierville around the courthouse and historic shopping district. Sevierville doesn't have as many special events as Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg does, but more than makes up for it with this awesome annual treat.

If you love the music of the South, you need to get here NOW. The Bluegrass portion is a free, almost non-stop marathon of revered musical acts like Doyle Lawson, J.D. Crowe, Tony Rice, Bobby Hicks and more. If you're craving the best meat you can find in the South all year, get here even quicker so you can enjoy immaculate dishes with The American Grillmaster Experience and the Great American BBQ Tour appearing to share tips for everything BBQ.

May in the Smokies 2013

May is full of some excellent upcoming events that, if you're hoping to do a visit to the Smokies this month, you should definitely plan to check out.

If you come early in the month, you'll have the Dolly Parton Homecoming Parade in Pigeon Forge to look forward to. It's a tradition in Pigeon Forge that Dolly Parton returns to marshall a grand Spring parade down the main road of the city and it's every bit as much fun as one can hope for. The Dolly Parton Homecoming Parade is May 10th for 2013. You can see more information on that at www.mypigeonforge.com/events/dolly-parade/.

Come later in the month and you can enjoy not one, but two separately held "BBQ and Bluegrass" events in Sevier County. The first is a major festival held in downtown Sevierville around the courthouse with some of the best meats you will ever taste in your life with the best Bluegrass groups touring today playing in the backdrop. The Sevierville "Bloomin' BBQ and Bluegrass" is May 17th and 18th for 2013. You can see more information on that at www.bloominbbq.com.

The second is a BBQ and Bluegrass led by none other than Dollywood itself, and if you can imagine a near non-stop rotation of awesome southern performers and amazing chicken, beef and pork, all with the Dollywood seal of quality on them, you have a pretty good idea how much you'll be able to enjoy it. The Dollywood BBQ and Bluegrass is May 29th through June 5th for 2013. You can find more information on that at www.dollywood.com.

And you can find more information on us at www.cosbyhollowcabin.com and how we can complete your vacation for these events and more!

There will be entertainment leading up to final countdown, and then the epic ball drop at the final seconds of 2012 that ends with an EXPLOSION of fireworks on the Space Needle in the center of downtown Gatlinburg. More than 15 minutes of colorful sparks and flames will fire from the tower.

Special events like these are very easy to get to with Cosby Hollow Cabin! Just a scenic 15 minute drive from Cosby and a straight shot to Gatlinburg on Highway 321 and you're there! See our cabin and its many amenities at www.cosbyhollowcabin.com.
